Three Rivers Council - BSA

The Beacon

About the Beacon: The Beacon is the official publication of the Three Rivers Council Boy Scouts of America. It is published during the school year, and each August, we mail the year’s inaugural issue of The Beacon to everyone in the Three Rivers Council who is involved in Scouting – youth included. Remaining issues are distributed only to registered Adult Scout Leaders. We hope you enjoy this newsletter, and use it to keep up with events and activities in our Council. If you are a registered 09-842-5240. Adult Scout Leader and are not receiving The Beacon, please contact the Scout Office at 409-842-5240.

We Want to See your Scouts in the Beacon!!!
Here is some tips for submitting your stories and pictures.

Three Rivers Council wants to see your Scouts in the Beacon! Send pictures and stories about your Scouts and events to your District Executive and we will try to include them in the next issue.
But, participates must be participating in a approved BSA activity and be in full BSA uniform where necessary. It’s also important that your materials are of high enough quality for our printing process. .Here are some guidelines to help you make sure we can reproduce your photos and stories.

Make sure your photos are well-lit, clear, and in sharp focus. If you shoot pictures with a digital camera, set your camera at it’s highest resolution setting. If you scan prints to send, be sure to set your scanner at 300 dpi, and not at a pre-set setting for email. And remember, pictures from the Web are usually to small (low in resolution) to print!
For best quality, send your pictures as Attachments to email – please, DO NOT place them in a word processing file or in the body of your email message.

DO clearly identify your event, unit, district, and the people or places you are portraying – remember the old reporter’s saying, “Who, What, When, Where, and How?” Type your story and/or photo captions in the body of an email, or attach a word processing or text file. Please key picture captions with the file name of the picture you wish to accompany them in the Beacon. And finally, please check all the information (especially names) for accuracy.

Thanks
